Wednesfield War Memorial

All the team here in Parks and Green Spaces, Wolverhampton were saddened back in May of this year, when thieves made away with the bronze memorial plaques on the Wednesfield War Memorial.

We were alerted to its theft by a gentleman whose wife was in the nearby hospital.  We learned that one of the family’s relatives were amongst those commemorated on the memorial – another of our brave lads that lost their lives in the line of duty.

We’re glad to say that the war memorial has now been reinstated to its former glory.  All the names of those lost are back in their rightful place; along with a further five local people (who were identified through an appeal led by former Wolverhampton Mayor Phil Bateman).
